About Fuh-mi
Fuh-mi is a Tokyo-based calligrapher who creates inspirational artworks born entirely from dialogue and encounter.
She works exclusively by commission and collaboration. Nothing is written in advance; each piece begins only after conversation, unfolding as a direct response to the person it is dedicated to.
At the heart of her practice is the Japanese sensibility of ichigo ichie—“one moment, one meeting.” No two people are alike, and no encounter ever repeats. Fuh-mi’s calligraphy honors this impermanence, capturing the unrepeatable presence of that exchange in a single gesture.
Her clients include CEOs, martial artists, creators, and cultural institutions—individuals and groups seeking clarity, meaning, or simply the right word to move forward. Every project begins with one essential question: What do you want this work to carry for you?
Drawing from her background in cultural consulting, she weaves together classical poetry, Zen philosophy, and at times a playful sense of humor. Each character is brushed in one intentional motion—unrevised, unedited, wholly of that moment.
Fuh-mi’s works now live in boardrooms, meditation halls, and private collections across the world. Each one is not simply an artwork, but a shared moment, made visible in ink.
